PFN at the Organic Field Days

There were many opportunities for dialogue, networking and further training while enjoying the perfect weather. The Practical Research Network Hesse was also represented this year with a joint stand with the ‘Leitbetriebe’ networks of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate and the ‘Vereinigung Ökologischer Landbau in Hessen e.V.’ (VÖL). In addition to presenting the current research projects of the arable and vegetable farming project groups, the PFN stand was a central meeting point for farmers, advisors and university representatives. Theo Bloem and Christian Weber, managers of PFN farms, and the two coordinators Natalia Riemer and Esther Mieves presented their visions and plans for farmers-led research on the stage of the ‘Kartoffelhalle’. The Organic Field Days were a complete success for the PFN: we raised awareness for our work for organic farmers in Hesse, established good contacts for future projects and engaged in inspiring discussions.
