In the April issue of the trade journal Gemüse , which focuses on environmentally friendly fertilization and water protection, several articles were published presenting the Hesse practical research network and our current projects. The articles show how important practical research is in order to develop sustainable and economically viable solutions for vegetable cultivation.

Protecting our waters from nutrient inputs is a key challenge in agriculture. Environmentally compatible fertilization strategies help to precisely control fertilizer requirements, avoid over-fertilization and thus sustainably reduce water pollution. This is precisely where the PFN’s practice-oriented research comes in: Together with farmers, innovative measures are tested, evaluated and further developed – directly on the farms and in intensive exchange with practitioners.

The articles in the specialist journal Gemüse highlight various aspects of our work – from practical trial results and the importance of cooperation within the network to the opportunities and challenges of environmentally conscious fertilization in vegetable cultivation. This makes it clear how practical research contributes to making scientific findings tangible and creating solutions that make both ecological and economic sense.

We are delighted that our work has been recognized so extensively in the trade journal Gemüse and hope that the articles will provide valuable impetus for all those involved in vegetable growing.
